Isabelle and the Mysterious Little Star
The next evening, Isabelle was getting ready for bed when she noticed something very strange in the sky.
One of the stars was moving.
“…That’s not supposed to happen.” 🐰
She leaned closer to the window.
The tiny star zigzagged across the sky…
Then suddenly—
PLOP!
Something landed right outside her burrow.
Isabelle’s ears shot straight up.
She grabbed her tiny backpack, just in case, and cautiously hopped outside.
There, sitting in the grass, was the tiniest glowing creature Isabelle had ever seen.
It looked like a little ball of starlight with two tiny wings.
“Are you okay?” Isabelle whispered.
The creature nodded.
“Are you… a star?”
It nodded again.
Isabelle blinked.
“A lost star?”
The little star nodded a third time.
“Ohhhhhh.”
Isabelle immediately understood.
This was now officially her problem.
She looked toward the sky.
Then toward the forest.
Then back at the tiny star.
“Well,” she said, adjusting her backpack, “I suppose we have an adventure to go on.”
The little firefly from the previous adventure appeared beside her.
“I was wondering when you were going to get involved in something ridiculous again.”
Isabelle gasped.
“I’m not ridiculous!”
The firefly glanced at her backpack.
“Why did you pack three strawberries?”
“Emergency strawberries.”
“You said that last time.”
“They were necessary.”
“They were not.”
“They were emotionally necessary.”
The firefly sighed.
And so, under the moonlight, Isabelle, the little firefly, and their new glowing friend began their journey toward the tallest hill in the meadow.
They believed that if they reached the top before midnight, they could return the little star to the sky.
But they didn’t know that the forest ahead had been unusually quiet lately.
Too quiet.
The birds had stopped singing.
The squirrels had disappeared.
And deep beneath the trees…
something had been watching them.
Two enormous eyes slowly opened in the darkness.
Isabelle stopped.
“…Did you see that?”
The firefly went silent.
The little star hid behind Isabelle’s ear.
From somewhere deep in the forest came a soft sound.
Crunch.
Isabelle swallowed.
Then another.
Crunch.
She tightened the straps of her backpack.
“Okay,” she whispered.
“Maybe we should have brought four strawberries.”
And somewhere in the darkness…
something giggled.
To be continued… 🐰🌙✨
