Rope Burn
“Hold on to those you love”
“Hold on to your youth”
“Hold on to each and every time you lose another tooth”
“Hold on to days passed”
“Hold tight to memories”
“Hold on to everything you can because everything will cease”
“Hold on a little tighter”
“Please don’t live all my regrets”
“Would you make my mistakes a lesson and settle all my debts”
“Hold on, that’s our advice”
“Hold just a second more”
“Don’t let time go too quickly past you-
When you walk through they’ll lock the doors”
I tried to follow closely, and I pulled with all my might
The opposing side of our tug-of-wars’ competition is far too tight
I don’t want them to leave me or the time to go away
I spend nearly every good moment bitterly wishing I could stay
The time that goes, and the people with it is on the height of all my fears
And still the rope burns on my hands sting hotter than my tears
I hold on so very tightly but my grip will always give weigh
Regardless, I listen when you say “hold on” and I will beg time and love to stay
